How Every Job Is Handled
Regardless of the service, every watch that comes to Escapement follows the same path. It is assessed with photographs before any work begins. A written scope is prepared and shared with the owner. Work starts only after that scope is approved.
During the job — particularly for restorations — we communicate at each meaningful stage. If something unexpected turns up, we stop and report rather than proceed. When a part needs sourcing, options are presented before anything is ordered.
At completion, the watch is checked for correct function before handover. All records are retained. This is not a complicated process, but it is one we apply consistently.

Spring & Stem Repair
Replacement of worn springs, stems, and small contact parts to restore winding and setting. A practical fix for watches that have become awkward to operate. Includes a function check before return.

Case & Bracelet Polish
Gentle refinishing of case and bracelet surfaces to even out daily scratches and restore a tidy look. Suited to refreshing a familiar everyday watch. Finish level is agreed in advance to suit the owner's taste.

Applied Across Every Service
Secure Storage
All watches are stored securely when not being worked on. High-value items are held separately.
Calibrated Timing Equipment
Movement timing is verified with a calibrated timegrapher. Results are documented and available on request.
Full Job Documentation
Photographic and written records maintained for every job. These can be shared with the owner on request.
Personal Handling Throughout
The same watchmaker handles each watch from intake to completion — not a different person at each stage.
No Work Without Approval
Scope is always confirmed in writing before any repair begins. This applies to all three services without exception.
Post-Repair Function Verification
Winding, setting, and timekeeping are confirmed before handover. We do not consider a job complete until the function check passes.
